DONALDSONVILLE The City Council voted 3-2 to turn the operations of its recreation programs over to Ascension Parish Government. The vote came Tuesday night after months of deliberation and negotiations with parish government on how to maintain programs on the parishs west bank.

A regional greenway master plan for a trail system running from Knoxville to Alcoa, Maryville and Townsend, eventually tying in to the Smokies was approved Tuesday by Parks and Recreation Commission.

Torrington Parks & Recreation to hold Fishing Derby Saturday

TORRINGTON The Torrington Parks and Recreation Department Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, April 17, for all Torrington residents. All fish must be caught in Connecticut waters, and must be species of trout or salmon. Measurements will be taken at the Torrington Armory Park from 9 a.m. to noon and 5 to 6 p.m.

Recreation board OKs drainage system repair

After hashing out several issues, the Caņon City Council and Recreation District board members agreed Tuesday to fix the drainage system at the Riverwalk Bluff and work together to repair the Tunnel Drive Trail to be reopened by Memorial Day weekend.
